Designed to assist - not replace - clinicians, this solution analyzes dental X-ray images to provide timely, relevant support in the treatment room. Initially, it will help identify suspected caries in bitewing images.
Over time, its capabilities will grow to recognize additional findings, such as signs of potential bone loss. Ultimately, this type of innovation has the potential to reshape how oral health services are organized and delivered.
Our ongoing pilots with selected partners have deepened our understanding of what truly supports clinical work. We’ve explored when AI adds value - and when it might get in the way. These insights have guided how we integrate the solution into the clinical workflow and how we present its findings in a meaningful and usable way. For instance, we’ve found that how the results are displayed can shift depending on whether the focus is clinical decision-making or communicating with patients. Our emphasis remains on making clinicians' work smoother, with patient communication always in mind.
Equally important is how seamlessly the solution fits into the broader ecosystem of a dental practice. Rather than adding another disconnected tool, we’ve built the analysis directly into our platform, securely within our controlled cloud environment. Findings appear within the AssisDent practice management user interface - no need for extra logins, viewers, or clicks. It’s about keeping the workflow more streamlined, not interrupting it.
We’re already planning the next steps. In addition to expanding support for new image types and clinical findings, we’re working on features like converting findings into structured suggestions for the medical record - another small, smart way to save time and reduce administrative burden. This feature is expected later this year.
Romexis Image Cloud is evolving into more than just storage - it’s becoming a platform for meaningful, intelligent digital services in oral health. This AI capability is one milestone on that journey, and just a hint of what’s ahead.
